Q1 / How do I reserve my PEUGEOT OPEN EUROPE vehicle?

Contact globalCARS on 1300 789 992 to make your reservation.
Please note that written quotes are valid for 3 days and are in Australian Dollars.
To secure your booking, you will need to complete a Reservation form and return the completed Reservation form along with a deposit of $500.
All bookings must be received by at least 5 weeks prior to the intended pick up date. (In some cases, bookings can be made at shorter notice depending on vehicle availability and pick-up location). 

Q2 / Who / What is covered by the insurance & where can I drive this vehicle?

The contract title holder as well as any other non-paying passenger, up to the authorized maximum number of passengers indicated on the vehicle's registration certificate.

The vehicle itself, registered under the French special category "TT".

You are covered both for assistance and insurance for the duration of your contract, as indicated on your purchase order and on your international automobile insurance card.


Your vehicle is covered by a multi-risk, non-deductible policy which offers the following guarantees:
Civil liability of the driver (including liability for non-paying passengers transported).
Vehicle fire.
Theft of the vehicle (if reported to the police)
Broken windows.
Damages incurred by accidents involving the vehicle, including acts of vandalism (if reported to the police).
Legal protection.
Coverage of the driver.

NEW EXTENDED COVER: Flat or damaged tyres (except vandalism).The loss of vehicle keys. Wrong fuel type, empty gas tank or wrong lubricant type.

The following countries are covered by insurance and for assistance:*† Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus~, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (including Corsica), Germany, Gibraltar, Greece (including Crete and Greek Islands), Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy (including Sicily and Sardinia), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal (including Azores and Madeira), Romania, San Marino, Serbia*, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including Canary Islands), Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.

*List of covered countries is Subject to change

†Travel to any other country is at the lessee's risk and is not covered by the Peugeot insurance or Peugeot roadside assistance.

~The cover of insurance provided for Cyprus is limited to the geographical parts of Cyprus which are under control of the government of the Republic of Cyprus.

*The cover of insurance provided for Serbia is limited to the Republic of Montenegro and the geographical parts of Serbia which are under control of the government of the Republic of Serbia.

Your vehicle is not covered for the following:
The loss or theft of luggage or personal belongings
Fines, tickets and alcohol-related accidents.

Any visibly improper use of the vehicle.

The countries covered by insurance may vary during the validity of this contract. It is important that you check to confirm that the countries you are travelling to to are covered by insurance and roadside assistance before travelling.

Q3 / Payments & Fees & Cancellations?

Booking Deposit:
A non refundable deposit of AUD$ 500 is required at the time of placing your reservation. Payments made by credit card Mastercard/Visa incur a 2% service fee. 
Payments made by credit card American Express incur a 3% service fee.
To avoid any fees pay by Direct Deposit. Details are on your invoice.

Bookings made within 30 days of the collection date will attract a $30 late booking fee and full payment required.

Final Payment:Final payment is due as per noted on your invoice/ may be subject to special Early Bird conditions as noted on invoice. Late return of lease forms may delay the delivery of your vehicle. For bookings within this deadline, please contact our office.

Cancellation Fees:
Cancellations more than 6 Weeks prior to collection $500 plus any further supplier's charges subject to registration of your vehicle.
42 - 0 days prior to pick up $500 Plus Suppliers Fees (These Additional fees may be as high as $1000.00 to cover costs such as registration, insurance, customs compliance, transportation and any other administration costs which have been incurred in the processing of the booking.)

Amendment fee for each amendment Free before documentation / $60 after documents are issued
No show or early return 100% of rental costs. i.e. No refund for unused services.

No show or early return globalCARS does not authorise the employees of Peugeot Sodexa to promise refunds to clients. Partial refunds will only be considered for unused days of 7 days or more for contracts of 30 days or more.
Peugeot Sodexa cancellation fees may apply.

Q4 / Can I travel on a European Passport?
  • Yes you can. However when completing the contracts you will need to supply with a letter outlining your intentions to travel, dates of return and a copy of an invoice being phone, water or electricity bill stating your current address. You must not reside in the EU and you must have been in Australia for more then 6 months.
Q5 / Why do I have to give my Credit Card and Bank Account details on the Contract?

Peugeot require these details to ensure the vehicle is returned or if you wish to purchase the vehicle. The euro amount on the contract (Promissory Note) is the value of the vehicle at the end of your lease. This is the amount that will be charged if the vehicle is not returned within 7 days from the organised return date. Once you obtain the official receipt for return by Peugeot this section is null and void.

Q6 / What do I need to collect my vehicle?

Upon pick up you will need to provide the pre paid voucher from globalCARS and your passport.

Q7 / Can a friend or relative collect the vehicle for me?

No. The registered driver (the client that completed the forms), must collect and return the vehicle as there are forms to be completed.

Q8 / Do I need to leave a deposit when I arrive or pay any extras?

No. Once you have paid globalCARS you will be given a prepaid voucher, this will cover you for your lease and there are no extra's to pay other than toll, highway charges or fuel. There is no deposit required or credit card imprints taken.

Q9 / How much fuel is provided and do i have to return full?

The vehicle will be delivered with between 10-15 litres of fuel, which in most cases is enough to get out of the city or on your way. You are not required to return the vehicle full and there are no charges in doing this.

Q10 / What countries are included when I order a vehicle with GPS?

Your GPS will be pre-set to ENGLISH and include all DETAILED roads through Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Plus the following countries as noted:
CROATIA - detailed roads in Zagreb, Rijeka, Pula, Split, Solin, Zadar, Dubrovnik and the islands of Krk, Ugljan, Pasman, Iz, Digi Otok and Molat, plus main roads (only) through the rest of Croatia.
MACEDONIA - main roads only.
GREECE - detailed roads through some of mainland Greece only.
BULGARIA - main roads only.
ROMANIA - detailed roads in Bucharest and Timisoara, plus main roads (only) through the rest of Romania.
ESTONIA - detailed roads in Tallinn, plus main roads (only) through the rest of Estonia.

Plus, your GPS will display tens of thousands of Points of Interest throughout Europe, including fuel stations, parking buildings, hotels, airports, restaurants, railway stations and more.

Q11 / Can I have additional drivers and is there a fee? What is the minumum age to drive these lease vehicles?

Yes you are able to have additional drivers and there is no additional fee, however there are strict restrictions as follows.

  • Immediate family members may drive the vehicle, however under no circumstance can they take the vehicle across any borders.
  • Immediate family members are spouse/partner, direct descendants and ascendants of the registered driver.
  • The term 'spouse' is understood in the broadest sense and may apply to a cohabiting partner or civil partner, provided that proof of this relation is provided.
  • All additional drivers must comply with all requirements of the lease.

Other drivers (not descendants/ascendants/spouse/legal co-habitant) can only drive the vehicle if they meet the same Eligibility conditions as the Contract Holder and the Contract Holder is inside the vehicle and unable to drive due to an emergency or exceptional circumstances.

The minimum driver age is 18 years with a FULL AUSTRALIAN LICENCE (no maximum driver age).
If you hold a full Australian drivers licence, an International Drivers Permit (in conjunction with your Australian licence) is highly recommended (compulsory in some countries).

Q12 / If I take my vehicle on a ferry am I covered by Insurance?

Yes. You are covered by full comprehensive insurance and are covered in both the UK and Ireland. Ferry crossing fees are not included in the costs.

Q13 / Is a Diesel model better than Petrol?

Diesel is approximately 10% cheaper than petrol in most countries through Europe. Even if diesel is a similar price to petrol (ie. Switzerland & UK), you will still go approximately 30% further on a tank of diesel v. a tank of petrol.Therefore we recommend if you plan on doing a reasonable amount of driving it may be more economical to pay the extra and take a diesel model. Please Click Here for current FUEL costs.

Q14 / Can I upgrade my vehicle on arrival or request accessories?

No. Therefore it is vital you choose the correct vehicle and accessories prior. Please feel free to visit any PeugeotDealer in Australia and take your luggage to ensure you are comfortable and happy with your choice.

Q15 / Can we extend or change the details of the lease whilst we are overseas?

Extensions or changes are possible however you will need to contact Peugeot Sodexa direct and arrange this with them. All costs will be in Euro and current taxes applied.

Q16 / What happens if the vehicle is stolen or if I have an accident?

Detailed information will be given to you in your final documentation, however it is relatively simple. You need to follow the same procedure as you would at home. Contact the police, fill out an accident report form and fax the document to Peugeot. In the event of your vehicle being stolen once you have notified Peugeot, the promissory note amount will not be invoked.

Q17 / Does Peugeot offer tow bars as an accessory?

No. Peugeot do not offer these however Peugeot do allow tow bars to be fitted at a Peugeot Garage whilst you are in Europe, with the following conditions:

You must organise and pay for it yourself.
Your car insurance policy does NOT include cover for your trailer.
You must arrange your own insurance for the trailer.
The requirement of a tow bar, whether known by us or not, does not form part of any contract between Peugeot Sodexa and you (the client). It is entirely your responsibility to organise and make yourself aware of any legal or otherwise requirements relating to the tow bar itself or anything associated with it.

Q18 / Can I return the vehicle earlier than planned and will I get a refund?

Yes, please make sure you contact the representative prior to organise the return. A partial refund may be issued to client who had an initial lease for more than 35 days and who returned more than 7 days prior to the organised date.

Q19 / What countries require an International Permit?

Some countries may require an International Driving Permit (IDP). Click here for more LICENCE information.
It is the driver's responsibility to meet each country's requirements. 

Q20 / Does PEUGEOT OPEN EUROPE offer winter tyres as an accessory?

Nearly all Peugeot vehicles are fitted with standard tyres prior to leaving the Peugeot factory. Standard tyres are not suitable for all winter conditions and during certain periods of the year. The vehicle supplier cannot predict where each client will travel. Driving regulations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland insist on the use of winter tyres between November – mid April and penalties can apply.

Standard tyres may not be suitable for winter road conditions and extreme weather in various countries throughout Europe. When driving in winter it is the responsibility of each driver to respect the legal requirements in place in each European country.
Tyre punctures and tyre and wheel damage or vandalism of any kind are at the contract holder's expense.

Some vehicles can be purchased with Grip Control & M+S winter tyres. Please refer to fleet details.Snow Chains / Winter Tyres

Clients can pickup their vehicle in France and there are Snow chains can be pre paid with globalCARS prior to departure, and supplied by Peugeot at time of collection.

Q21 / Do I need to service the vehicle?

The first service for each Peugeot is due at 20,000Kms excepting the 4008 1.8l HDI model must be serviced in the 1st 15000kms. This is at the clients own expense.

Q22 / Can you advise us on road tolls in Europe?

There are toll roads throughout Europe and the way they "work" varies. In most countries you pay as you exit the toll road - with the piece of paper obtained when entering the toll road telling the toll booth where you entered.

Switzerland charges a fee for the use of motorways (green road signs). The vignette, which is a sticker applied to inside of the windscreen, costs a flat-rate price and is mandatory for motor vehicles. Vignettes can be purchased at customs offices at most border entries. also obtainable at post offices, petrol stations, automobile associations and railway stations. Q23 / Where can I purchase the emission sticker required in Europe?

Many cities in Europe use Low Emission Zones, Urban Road Tolls, Traffic Limited Zones and Traffic Restrictions to improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion and make historic city centres attractive to tourists.

Q24 / What is the current cost of fuel in Europe?

Please Click Here for current FUEL costs.  Diesel is generally a little cheaper but remember the fuel savings with Diesel. Usually about a third more distance out of a tank of Diesel than Petrol.  

Q25 / What is the current law re breathalysers & safety Equipment when driving in Europe?

Several changes have been made to motoring laws in France in support of the International Decade on Road Safety though two new laws have subsequently been either abolished or postponed indefinitely.

January 2013 - Drivers in France have been required to carry a self-test breathalyser since July 2012 with enforcement by fines originally planned for 1 November but subsequently postponed to 1 March 2013.  Now the French government has announced that the implementation of the sanction (fine) for drivers not carrying a breathalyser – a fine of €11 – has been postponed indefinitely.

So you are still required to carry a self-test breathalyser when driving in France but there is no current legislation demanding a fine for non-compliance.

It is a legal requirement in most European countries to carry an emergency triangle and reflectorised jacket. Peugeot provides one emergency triangle and one reflectorised jacket. The jacket must be carried inside the vehicle, so you can put it on before exiting the vehicle.

Q26 / What accessories are available with PEUGEOT OPEN EUROPE?

There are many accessories to choose from. All accessories are tested by Peugeot and are to European standards. Accessories must be pre-booked and pre-paid prior to leaving Australia.

Your Peugeot vehicle will be delivered with the accessories installed and a note will be added to your contract and your voucher.

Tow bars

We are unable to arrange the fitting of a tow bar. Therefore, we have very limited knowledge and information on the intricacies of tow bars and anything associated with them. 
– Your car insurance policy does NOT include cover for your trailer. You must arrange your own insurance for the trailer.

Important Notes

– Some countries (one country we are aware of is Italy) are unable to fit tow bars to French registered vehicles.
 It is entirely your responsibility to organise and make yourself aware of any legal or otherwise requirements relating to the tow bar itself or anything associated with it.
