Book your ferry crossing with Maui. If you advise Maui your preferred crossing times, number of passengers and ages of children, we will be happy to make the booking for you. You collect your tickets on pick-up and pay for the ferry at the branch. It is essential to pre-book ferries in the New Zealand summer months between November and March. We will reconfirm to you the actual sailing time when it is confirmed to us.
The approximate time to cross by the Interislander Ferry is 3 hours and the Lynx Fast Ferry is 2 hours & 15 minutes.

In the unlikely event that you will experience any minor mechanical or operational problems with your vehicle, assistance can be readily provided through any one of our appointed service agents throughout New Zealand. In addition to this, Maui offers a 24-hour roadside assistance helpline, should you require the assistance of a Maui staff member. Diesel Tax Recovery
The Diesel Tax Recovery Fee (Motorhomes only) will be calculated and collected on return of your vehicle based on the kilometres traveled during your hire.

Actual vehicles may vary according to year of manufacture and availability but your vehicle will be suitable for the required number of persons and have equivalent or better specifications to those in the brochure. Vehicles cannot be requested by make or mode, only by vehicle type eg. Spirit 2, Spirit 4 etc. Extra bedding is available on request (fees apply). Baby/Booster seat fittings are an additional charge and available by request only.
Excess Reduction Options
All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first NZ$5,000 for Motorhomes and NZ$1,800 for rental cars ('the standard excess') of the cost of the damage to the third party property or rented vehicle. The excess can be reduced by the purchase of Excess Reduction Options (see below).

PREMIUM COVER OPTION (PCO)*
Hirers who purchase Excess Reduction Option 2 for rental cars are also able to take out the Premium Cover Option, which waives their vehicle excess liability to nil. Premium Cover is available for a flat fee of NZ$40 per hire (irrespective of vehicle type or hire duration).

Maui strongly recommended our customers take the Excess Reduction Option 2 with Premium Cover to minimise exposure and travel with peace of mind.
PRE-PURCHASE GAS OPTIONS (PGO)*
This value-added option allows you to buy your first tank of LPG at a discounted rate, thereby avoiding the need to replenish the gas bottle prior to drop-off. Based on the vehicle type, you simply pay for the first bottle of Gas when collecting the vehicle.
If this option is not purchased the gas bottle(s) must be returned full, otherwise a re-fill charge will apply.

PRE-PURCHASE FUEL OPTION (PFO)*
This option allows you to buy your first tank upon collection of the vehicle, at a discounted rate so you don't have to refill the vehicle prior to returning to the branch. This value-added option allows you to buy your first tank of fuel at a discounted rate from the 'high street" selling price in the immediate vicinity of the pick-up branch. Save up to 5% on fuel!. By purchasing PFO, you can also return the vehicle without having to re-fuel it prior to drop-off. Must be requested at time of pick up. There is no credit for unused fuel.
FUEL SERVICE BY LITRE (FSL)*
This option allows you the convenience of not having to re-fuel the vehicle prior to returning it at the conclusion of your hire. A Maui staff member will re-fuel the vehicle on your behalf when it is returned. Fee applies.
