Travel Alerts - Additional security measures for US flights
The United States government has revised its security arrangements for all customers travelling into the country and extra security checks and searches are now in place for all passengers prior to departure from the UK.
Customers booked to travel to the United States should therefore allow plenty of extra time for check-in and security procedures, and are strongly advised to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before their flight is timetabled to leave.
The new security arrangements also mean that only one item of hand luggage is allowed for all passengers travelling to the United States. Customers should bear this in mind when packing, and should contact their airline for specific advice over what is and is not permitted as carry-on baggage.
At the boarding gate security personnel will conduct a thorough search of all passengers, including physical inspection of all carry-on baggage.
